Jamaican Athlete Begs Funds Online For Olympics

Jamaican athlete Ricardo Chambers recently utilised the online website GoFundMe to try and raise the funds necessary to cover his training expenses for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

Chambers was a member of the Jamaican 4x400m relay team at the recently concluded IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.

The athlete also recently  posted on his Twitter that he is now actively seeking a 9-5 job because he is presently unable to support himself financially.

GoFundMe is a fundraising website that allows people to raise money for a wide range of endeavours and initiatives.

“I represented Jamaica at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing China, where we only just missed the podium by .0004 placing fourth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 2.58.51 which is the fastest time Jamaica 4x400m relay team have ran in the past 10 years. Upon returning home from Beijing, I was faced with the reality that my resources have been exhausted and can no longer support myself for the preparation of the upcoming Olympic year. I am asking for any assistance to help me prepare for the Olympic season. Some of my expenses are; medical, nutrition, supplements and accommodation. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance. ” Chambers stated on his GoFundMe account.
