Asafa Powell Clocks 2nd Fastest 100m Indoor Time in History!
The former world’s fastest man, Asafa Powell has rebounded nicely from his 5th place finish at the recently held Brussels Diamond League.
While competing at the Kamila Skolimowska memorial in Warsaw on Sunday, Powell clocked an impressive 10.01 seconds to finish well ahead of Turkey’s Ramil Guliyev, who clocked 10.26 for second and Barbadian Ramon Gittens 10.27s.
Powell who is now 33 years of age, ran facing a -0.7m/s headwind, and narrowly missed out on the meeting and world record of 9.98 seconds set by Usain Bolt in 2014.
Fellow Jamaican athlete Simone Facey won the women’s equivalent in 11.30 seconds ahead of Charonda Williams of the United States who was second in 11.33s and Sherone Simpson who ran a time of 11.36 seconds for third.
