Hurricane Danny’s Intensity Fluctuates As it Moves Closer to the Caribbean

Hurricane Danny, the first of the 2015 Atlantic season became a category 3 system on Friday.

Now a category 2 system, Danny is projected to whirl its way across the Northern Caribbean.

Its relatively small size means the system is also very susceptible to small changes in intensity according to forecasters.

Drenching rain is to be expected in northern Caribbean islands according to weather forecasts.

Based on the forecasts Jamaica could be impacted by the storm some time next week.

In a release on Friday,  the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) noted that information from the National Hurricane Centre at 2pm had the centre of Hurricane Danny located near latitude 14.3N 48.6W or about 900 miles (1450 km) East of the Leeward Islands.

The public is being advised to use this period to review their personal preparedness and readiness for response.
