Fraser-Pryce Wins Easily, McDonald Stuns With Incredible 400m Time
Jamaica’s ‘pocket-rocket’ Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce appears to be in cruise control mode after easily winning her heat in the women’s 100m at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing China.
She departed her blocks in explosive fashion and accelerated at a blistering pace to a very comfortable victory despite slowing down considerably with about 10-15 metres to go.
Fraser-Pryce clocked 10.88 seconds in Heat 4 and now advances to the Semi-final. with Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Ivory Coast finished second in 10.95 and Carina Horn of South Africa third in 11.08.
Rusheen McDonald clocks sub 43 seconds time in 400m heat
Jamaican athlete Rusheen McDonald was extremely impressive on Sunday when he clocked 43.93 seconds to break the national 400 metres record in his heat at the World Championships in Beijing, China.
McDonald was second to Yousef Ahmed of Saudi Arabia, who clocked the same time which also broke the Asian record and made the race the fastest heat in a major track and field championships. Isaac Makala of Botswana finished third with a time of 44.19 seconds.
