Double Gold For Jamaica in 4x100m Finals at World Championships
On the penultimate day of the IAAF World Championships in Beijing China, Jamaica won gold in both the men’s 4x100m and women’s 4x100m finals.
The two most recent gold medals move Jamaica into second place on the medal table on the 8th day of the competition.
Jamaica’s female team included Veronica Campbell-Brown, Natasha Morrison, Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. They blazed to victory in a stunning 41.07 seconds, smashing their own championship record and taking over the world lead from the United States.
The United States was second with a season’s best of 41.68 seconds.
Jamaica’s men’s team of Usain Bolt, Nesta Carter, Nickel Ashmeade and Asafa Powell also took gold after running a world leading 37.36 seconds.
The United States initially finished second in 37.77s but were disqualified for a lane infringement on final exchange between Tyson Gay and Mike Rogers.
That meant China who finished third in 38.01 were promoted to silver with Canada also moving up to bronze in 38.13s.
