Gays Protest in Montego Bay Ahead of Upcoming LGBT Pride Celebrations

Homosexuals protested in Montego Bay, St James yesterday (July 27), only days before Jamaica’s first ever Gay Pride celebration is scheduled to take place.

According to Loop Jamaica, Prominent Jamaican gay activist, Maurice Tomlinson was among the protesters.

“Proud but not free,” read the placard raised by Tomlinson, a lawyer based in Canada.

A female protester’s placard also demanded that “Jamaica Free Gays!”

  

Jamaica Forum of Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays (J-FLAG) will stage PRiDEJA 2015 Jamaica’s first Pride celebration beween August 1 to 8 under the theme, “The Pride of a People: Breaking the Rules of Oppression”.

Pride celebrations are held across the world to celebrate the LGBT community.
