Asafa Powell Blazes to Victory at Jamaican National Trials
Asafa Powell was in sizzling form on Thursday as he cruised to victory in the men’s 100m quarterfinal heat at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Championships.
The former world record holder seemed to hardly break a sweat as he cruised to a 9.98s victory ahead of Yohan Blake 10.24 seconds and Kemarley Brown who clocked the same time.
In quarterfinal 2 Kemar Bailey-Cole and Andrew Fisher both clocked 10.05s.
Nickel Ashmeade and Nesta Cater 10.12 are also into the final.
There have been two high profile withdrawals from the championships already.
The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt and Jamaica’s second fastest female sprinter this year Elaine Thompson have both withdrawn.
