Where Do We Go From Here?
Now that the president of the USA has come and gone what is the way forward for Jamaica and Jamaicans?
One thing that was very much obvious was the level of hatred which exists between Jamaicans who are JLP and PNP.
The sad truth is if as a PEOPLE we could not all appreciate the visit for what it was instead of drawing political lines, it still shows that politics and political affiliations will continue to destroy both people and country.
This while the same politicians that we throw words of hate towards each other for are friends and companions in high places.
If as supporters of both parties we claim that we want better for JAMAICA yet hold so much hatred and resentment towards each other, how then do we expect those whom we elect to lead to fix what is broken if we are not willing to fix ourselves?
How ironic it is that in the midst of chaos and confusion we do not see party or party affiliations?
If there is a massively destructive hurricane, we assist and help each other, if Bolt wins a race we all rejoice as JAMAICANS, yet for some unknown reason that kind of UNITY eludes us when it comes to POLITICS.
We really need to check ourselves, we become amazed and confused when our YOUNG PEOPLE behave in a certain manner that we think is unbecoming, but the truth is WE have been feeding them a culture of nastiness and hatred and have helped to destroy any future that should should be their own as Jamaicans.
I suggest we begin to take stock of where we are as a nation and where we really want to be.
For 52 years it has been about JLP and PNP, at what point does it really become about JAMAICA and JAMAICANS?
