We are Failing Our Children
It is very clear that there is something tragically wrong in our schools.
A 12 year old child was stabbed over a chair, and teachers allegedly REFUSED to take the bleeding child to the hospital because they did not want any blood in their vehicles. Something is seriously wrong here!
Clearly the issue of parenting is one of the main problems here. Parents who are not ready to be parents need to A. have the women close their legs, or B. have the men stop depositing sperm when neither is ready for the responsibility of a child.
When I was going to school security was present to keep unwanted elements out and protect those on the inside. Now it seems that SOME of the students are the ones that both teachers and other students need protection from. Some time ago there was a picture from the police archive showing guns, knives and machetes which were taken FROM students by the police. It is clear that some of the schools have become war zones and are no longer learning facilities.
We have become one cold, callous society. People were willing to get out their cell phones and VIDEO a bleeding, dying child, yet no one thought of using the their phones to get help.
What’s worse is teachers were so materialistic that they actually watched this dying, bleeding child, and would not put him in their car and take him to a hospital , because they did not want blood in their cars.
How incredibly sad.
Even more saddening still is the fact that some have already used this incident to score political points. Now that is the balm of ignorance and illiteracy. This issue cannot be blamed on any political party.
Both are to be blamed, along with the parents, the community, teachers and every single Jamaican, because the reality is we have failed and continue to fail our children.
If as adults the only legacy we can give them is one of political friction, and hatred of each other, and leave them to people who preach nothing but HATE, and VIOLENCE, then they are lost, truly lost.
Sadly home schooling is not an OPTION for many Jamaicans, and schools are not equipped to deal with some of the warriors attending them, so the saga will continue and in the meantime we continue to shout SHOWER AND POWER.
GOD HELP US.
Failing them indeed. I really hate this nasty practice of recording dying or dead people and posting them to social media. Well said and thanks for highlighting this.
Point of correction the issue about teachers and blood in the car is not true that was just an utterance from a grieving mother…they did take him to hospital…the question that needs to be asked how did an 11yr old child knows where to stab some to cause instant death…
JAMAICA IS INDEED FINISHED, MAN, TWO PEOPLE COMMENTED AND ALL THEY TALKING ABOUT ARE THE BLOOD IN THE CAR AND THE VIDEOTAPING, NONE OF THEM SAID ANYTHING ABOUT WHY IS THERE KNIVES IN SCHOOL.
Bcuz the blood in the car seems to be the biggest issue..dont you realize that the writer of the article is not intetested in indiscipline or poor parenting…furthermore children in that age group cannot be searched…check the laws
