Portion of Highway 2000 to be Renamed to Honour Former PM P.J. Patterson
Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, P.J. Patterson is to be honoured next week in a big way as a section of one of his most grand projects is set to bear his name.
A Press advisory released by the government on Friday evening announced that the Mandela to May Pen leg of Highway 2000 will be renamed the P.J. Patterson Highway.
This name change will occur on April 17.
Highway 2000 was one of the Millenium Projects announced by Mr. Patterson’s administration in the late 1990s.
Mr. Patterson celebrated his 80th birthday earlier this week and is also scheduled to be honoured by parliament at a a luncheon, to mark that milestone, on April 17.
