The Young Man behind one of the most Moving Videos ever filmed in Jamaica
A few months ago The Jamaican Blogs™ shared a powerful and moving video titled “Why” that made many people seriously question some of the laws that are currently being used to help govern our society.
The short film is actually a poem by a young Jamaican named Kevaughn Ellis and we were recently given the opportunity to find out a little about this young man.
Kevaughn spared some words about himself and the inspiration behind his powerful poem. Here is what he had to say:
First of all, I am an intellectual individual who loves sports from the depths of my heart.
Secondly, I aspire to become a journalist and I am inspired by poverty and people.
Last but not least I am determined, hardworking, focused and have high self efficacy.
I’m currently a student at the Media Technology Institute (MTI) where I am studying Video Production.
I am certified in Voice & Speech and Television Production.
I went to Calabar High for my first three years of high school and then was transferred to Lennon High.
At the time while attending Calabar I was just an average student and gave a lot of trouble. My mother decided to send me to Clarendon to live with my aunt where I attended Lennon High.
What inspired you to make the film?
I was inspired by people. It’s just things that are happening for real. I got the inspiration from what I’ve heard in the streets; what I’ve seen in the streets, on the television and sometimes what I’ve read in the papers.
With films like these Kevaughn undoubtedly has a bright future in media.
