Man gets HUGE fine for fake job letter at US Embassy
If you were to do a survey, chances are you would discover that most Jamaicans worry quite a bit when they are about to apply for a US visa.
As a result of this, applicants usually try to present the best possible supporting documents to increase their chances of receiving said visa.
One young man went a little too far by including a forged document with his application.
According to a report by Loop News, a young man, who took a forged letter to the US Embassy in Kingston to support his application for a non-immigrant visa, has been slapped with a $110,000 fine.
The man was hit with the fine when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday (September 1).
He was fined $20,000 each on the charges of conspiracy to defraud, forgery and possession of forged document. He was fined $50,000 or six months’ imprisonment on a charge of uttering forged document.
He was busted at the embassy, after a check was made at ACS Xerox, the company where he said he worked.
The young man had, on July 31, presented a letter to an embassy official, saying that the letter was from ACS.
