Man of the moment Dino Williams heads a group of three players from National Premier League champions Montego Bay United who have been called up by Reggae Boys head coach Winfried Schafer to represent Jamaica in upcoming friendly internationals.
Williams will however miss Monday’s friendly against Serbia at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey as he is without an American visa.
He should however be travelling to Europe for the games against Switzerland on May 30 in Lucerne, Egypt in London on June 4 and France in Lille on June 7.
Williams’ strike partner Romario Campbell and goalkeeper Jacomena Barrett are the other Mobay United players in the squad who are scheduled to leave at 7:45am Saturday morning.
The 19-man squad in the meantime also includes first time invitee Simon Dawkins of Derby County as well as Deshorn Brown, Darren Mattocks, Andre Blake and Rudolph Austin.
The rest of the team includes Upston Edwards, Kemar Lawrence, Nicholas Beckett, Hughan Gray, Nicholay Findlayson, John-Ross Edwards, Michael Seaton, Joel Grant, christopher Humphrey and Lloyd Doyley.
Just like Jamaica, Serbia missed out on Qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and is using this friendly as preparation to their UEFA 2016 European Championship Qualifiers, while Jamaica on the other hand is preparing for the 2014 Caribbean Cup which will be hosted in Montego Bay, St. James in November.
The Serbians have called up a robust squad of players who play in the English Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. Some players to keep an eye on are Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, former Mnchester United midfielder Zoran Tosic and Filip Dordevic.
