Jamaica sweeps top four places in women’s 100m at IAAF meet in Beijing! (Video)

Veronica Campbell Jamaica wins race 1 2 3 4 top three winnersTwo-times Olympic 200 meters champion Veronica Campbell-Brown led home a Jamaican sweep of the top three positions in the women’s 100 meters event at the IAAF World Challenge Meet in Beijing.

Campbell-Brown, who finished a disappointing 5th in her last outing over 200 meters in Shanghai on Sunday, won the 100 meter event after posting a season’s best 11.13 seconds.

Second place went to Simone Facey (11.19) with Trisha-Ann Hawthorne (11.23) finishing third and Aleen Bailey (11.32) ending fourth.

Facey however took gold in the women’s 200 meters event in 22.67 seconds ahead of Aleen Bailey who was second in 23.11 seconds. Hawthorne was 4th in 23.32 seconds behind China’s Yongli Wei (23.25).

  

Action in the women’s 100 meter hurdles saw Andrea Bliss finishing 6th in 13.43 seconds. That event was won by Brianna Rollins (12.58) ahead of fellow American Kellie Wells (12.89) and Panamanian Yvette Lewis (12.96).

Former World Youth champion Dexter Lee, in his first outing this season over 100 meters, ended 9th after posting 10.43 seconds.

First place went to American Justin Gatlin who ran a season’s best 9.96 seconds to finish ahead of compatriot Mike Rodgers and the ever-green Kim Collins of St. Kitts & Nevis.
