Russian Invasion and Ambitions – Will there be increased demand for our bauxite?
If America backs down from supporting the Ukraine , we will see a serious, ambitious leader who will be exerting hegemony and modern colonization.
History should not seek to revert previous signed declarations. Let the past be the past if it does not affect the lives of individuals. From all accounts the Russian speaking majority in the Crimea are not affected, not discriminated against, but Russians are unique screamers. Any where in the world, and I literally mean anywhere there are Russians (could be Jamaica ) for that matter. Putin and the former communists see it as a destiny and goal to “protect” their ‘brethrens’. This has been the case in Georgia, in Chechnya , in Poland, in areas of Finland. Putin and others will and have invaded these countries.
I am wondering how the west is going to react when Russia tries to seek and claim territories now part of Poland and Finland that changes hands so often throughout European history. Obviously the weakness of Western economies make Russia bolder than ever in its bid to recolonize areas that the Russian empire previously controlled.
Equally important, Russia is a violator of international laws and wants to continually control the black sea coastal frontiers, in particular Sevastopol. It is warm, we must remember this is near to what the Bible or old history would refer to as “Asia Minor”. You have to wonder, how can a white Slavic nation be part of a warm subtropical region? It is the same as asking how can white people capturing East African lands call themselves Africans and justified settlement of the land.
The next few months and years are going to be frightening. Personally, it will be war. We will never get away from a third World war. In the interim if cool heads reconcile we should see an increase in the demand for bauxite, because it will be back to old business and old military manoeuvres as a result of the he lust and greed for territories. Maybe it will be good for us as we could capitalize by increasing our bauxite supply. Ironically, our bauxite investors are Russians. Bauxite and its metal aluminium is critical for modern day military stock especially for aircraft manufacture. Our greatest earnings were always during the years America was at war, whether Vietnam or in the cold war with interventions a part and parcel of their DNA.
Putin will not back down, he will not want to be seen as another Khrushchev. He wants to be seen as that tough person who restored Russia’s imperial past both from a Tsartist and a Communist perspective. So yes there will be military actions for the next few years as I honestly do not see the west having the power to stop him and with China flexing her muscles in the South China seas, the world will once again turn upside down. Whoever failed to believe the bible, will have to think twice now. For a certainty, “there will be wars and rumours of wars” is alive and relevant.
It will be time for increased minerals for war effort. Lets hope when the time comes, which I think will be soon , we capitalize on this. Let us hope our political leaders make use of these unfortunate world affairs and do something good for our economy.

Good article. Jamaica already has relations of sorts with Russia, as many of their medics are educated there, so it would be the intuitive of the Ja. Foreign Minister to “watch the ride” so Jamaica can capitalize.
This article makes an amusing read and in fact is devoid of any historical perspective, which is what informs Russia’s present day actions. It does make one reference however, which is hardly ever mentioned in the Western press, and that is the Slavic origins of the Russian people. Western European thinking, which includes American thinking, towards Russia and Serbia have always been governed by the fact that the races of Western Europe see the Slavs as lesser human beings. Much the same way that Western Europeans and Americans view Africans, Arabs, Persians, Indians and Chinese. As for Jamaica benefiting from… Read more »
