Interviews with male sex workers living in Jamaica
A recently released documentary has provided a platform for numerous homosexual sex workers in Jamaica to speak about their lifestyle.
In the video they highlight why they made some of their life choices and share frightening experiences they have had in the past.
It is a taboo to be gay and living in Jamaica. Gay persons in particular face legal and social issues not experienced by heterosexuals.
Sexual acts between men are punishable with up to ten years imprisonment.
Jamaica’s laws do not criminalize the status of being LGBT but instead outlaw conduct. The Offences Against the Person Act (OAPA) provides as follows:
Section 76. Unnatural crime. Whosoever shall be convicted of the abominable crime of buggery … shall be liable to be imprisoned and kept to hard labour for a term not exceeding ten years.
Section 77. Attempt. Whosoever shall attempt to commit the said abominable crime, or shall be guilty of any assault with intent to commit the same, or of any indecent assault upon any male person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and being convicted thereof, shall be liable to be imprisoned for a term not exceeding seven years, with or without hard labour.
Section 79. Outrages on decency. Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or is a party to the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and being convicted thereof shall be liable at the discretion of the court to be imprisoned for a term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour.

ok then.well to each his/her own.ah ooman mi sey till mi dead still.
SAD!
I am speechless..
Wow
how sad !!!
how sad !!!
Very sad, but to each there own.although their lifestyle is a sin, so is torture n murder..
most of us fail to recognize that straight and gay rights have an inverse relationship. while one gains “normality” another is silenced. Soon, heterosexuals cant express their thoughts because it is not deemed favorable by the gay community. Thus, a change in our marriage institutions, family structure, religious beliefs, education system, etc. So to each his own? we are adversely reshaping society
to each his own? clearly those who speak like this r not consideeibg their future generations, if any, cuz procreation requires a man n a woman. also, thats easy to say until it hits home. anyways, we have strayed very far from religion so such reactions are unsurprising.
Its sad.
Suck dem Madda ! Dem fi dead ! God neva waah battyman fi deh yah..! Bumboclaat ! DEAD..!!! Unnu wah get accepted..? Leave Jamaica..!!
Cut from Jamaica den..!! Guh Suck Out unu Madda..!!! Unnu Sick Man Stomach !! -_-
im disgusted!!!!
Most of these kids are really lost & then u have the adults taking advantage of them oh buoy oh buoy
Vicki lgbtq ppl make up only 28% of the population. That number is too low to impact procreation. I hear people using God as an excuse to hate and criticize. Is this the same God that plantation owners use to give slaves false hope. How about we live and let live. Give someone else the opportunity to live as they see fit. If not, we have failed as a people
The tall guy in the curly black wing looks like ninja man.
I wish I had the power to cast out demons and set them free.

Dem fiii BBC dead
That guy Is the worst interviewer, I hate the way he structured his questions. However iI found this interesting
My father is Jamaican and I grew up in a predominantly west indian neighborhood in Brooklyn (Flatbush). While I was not raised to hate anyone, most of the music in my community growing up was anti-gay. I don’t truly believe that there’s a hell for them to burn in. I just think it’s wrong that we make them feel oppressed by our religious beliefs and judging ways. They are people too, and they deserve love too, and they wouldn’t be living on the streets prostituting, if they had unconditional love. I love my culture, and I love all of my… Read more »

guys live your life to the fullest
7 from 14 is 12???? DWL! This interviewer is an idiot?
Maybe if Portia gave them some rights they would not have to be selling their bodies and can gain education if you watched you would see that from young ages they have been on the road…I would not pray upon that for anyone. Portiad could have maybe helped them out, move them that would make it better for everyone…or will it?
I just need to commit to prayer some more. These poor souls are dying and they don’t even know.
To be honest I ain’t with the gay business I hate it but we can’t blame these guys or kids for the way they are … Most of us guys should be lucky we weren’t born with this feminine gene or w.e. These guys were probably born like that .. To judge them for something that’s not their fault is kinda harsh even tho we don’t like it.. The parents should be judged more for putting them out on the streets to live such a life …. I see why they are trying to force this gay lifestyle on others… Read more »
I think people can be born gay……like any other illness..as a matter of fact think its just a malfunction of the hormones or something in the brain..either way I don’t think pple choose to be gay..why would they choose to be hated by society…….
“look to di camara”….dwl, no sah!
O god not nice
are u a batty boy or just like to show jamaica in a bad way?
all a them fi dead
IT’S GROSS!
I don’t like the way the interview was conducted. Bring gay is not the problem, it’s the lies, deceit, and prostitution. There are prominent gay men, but it send like the ones in this video like hanging out and don’t take their life seriously. I know gay men that would be disgusted by their street lifestyle portrayed on this video.
let any man without sin cast the first stone! all u have to do ladies and gentlemen is breath a prayer for them simple n let god do his wrk n be d judge of all crimes n sins committed
Why is everyone so speechless. This is real and it is sad these people are living like this. Unfortunately they have no protection. No I am not gay… but I believe in inclusion. People on here swinging the bible but the mere fact that you all are judging these people you have sinned. Let him without sin cast the first stone. You don’t have to do an act to sin… it starts with the mind. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. My heart cry for these people. By God’s grace I will not treat them indifferent. They… Read more »
am a Jamaican and I live in Antigua. and no one trouble them, as I said we all have to answer to god. no sin is greater than any.
let god be the judge, we are all sinners. just remember that they are human and to each his own!
What an insight, beyond sad though! I’m sure this will get worse…
As a Guidance Counsellor in training, i can’t judge them nor try to change their perceptions. All i can do is to help them to find solutions to their circumstances, and offer unconditional positive regards. They are humans, and they must be treated as one. All vengeance is up to God, but as a Christian, I DON’T SUPPORT SLACKNESS!!
i’m seeing comments on here about procreation and all that stuff but really and truly if you get the gays out the way more women for the straight guys right??? why force a person to do what they don’t feel it doesnt make sense because they still going to go behind their wives backs have sex with men so…. mindsets need to change and look at the big picture, life is life
i watched this and was sadden not because their gay but because there should be more opportunities or resources for “disenfranchised” youth who have to resort to selling their bodies… if a youth is on the street their should be a program for them.. at least shelters.. educational resources.. something where they are given a trade or skill, ANything.. not because their gay but because their children who need help.. .. #mythoughts
oh well i do not feel sorry for them honestly, they get what they deserve if your gonna lie about not being a woman then who cares wat happens u choose that life accept the consequences
judge no one
This interview must have been hard going for the presenter. However I wonder how much was doctored as almost all of the interviewees just seemed so extra! this of course did not help them put their argument over which could only cause them to be laughed at. It just seems to me that it was an add for Male sex services!
“them send soldiers and police for Dudus on Extriction day” Masah God if u deh near .. dwllllllllllllll
All I care bout are the childrens well-being. And women rape and uncall for killings. Yea! Them boy love them life they have chosen.
This interviewer is absolutely retarded, his questions makes no sense and his interviewing skills are non existent. He needs to ask intelligent questions and wait for an answer before asking ten more.
Shocking & unfortunate
