Bolt To Donate $1 Million To Children’s Home Following Deadly Fire

Jamaica’s sprint legend Usain Bolt will be reportedly be donating $1 million to assist wards of the Walker’s Place of Safety who were displaced by a recent fire that claimed the lives of two teenaged girls.

According to Floyd Green, the Minister of State for Youth, 34 wards who managed to escape the inferno will be housed at three other children’s homes,

On Monday night the children’s home which is located at 17 Lyndhurst Avenue in Kingston was ravaged by a massive fire that claimed the lives of a 13  and 16 year-old.

The $1 million will be made available courtesy of the Usain Bolt Foundation.

  

Usain Bolt is no stranger to helping others. The eight-time Olympic Gold medallist has over the years made several sizable donations to his alma mater William Knibb Memorial High and the less fortunate.

Chairman of the Foundation Winsome Wilkins says Bolt will hand over the money to  the Child Protection and Family Services Agency next week.
