Boyz Prepare for Defining Clash Against DRC in Mexico

Preparations have intensified ahead of a crucial World Cup qualifying play-off involving Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Both squads were on the training ground in Guadalajara, Mexico on Sunday, sharpening tactics for Tuesday’s decisive encounter.

Online clips highlighted Jamaica’s final drills as the team fine-tuned its approach for the high-pressure showdown.

History will be made as the upcoming contest represents the first meeting between the two nations.

While the DRC are pushing to reach their first World Cup since 1974, Jamaica are pursuing a return to the global stage for the first time since 1998.

Progress through the competition saw the Leopards finish second in their group before overcoming Cameroon and Nigeria in regional play-offs to book their place in the final stage.

By comparison, the Reggae Boyz secured second behind Curaçao and were required to defeat New Caledonia on Thursday to advance.

Against African opposition, Jamaica’s record has been challenging, with just two wins from 22 matches, alongside nine defeats and 11 draws.

Ultimately, Tuesday’s result will determine which team secures qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to be hosted across Mexico, the United States and Canada.

Victory in this clash also guarantees progression into Group K, where Colombia, Portugal and Uzbekistan await.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm Jamaica time.
