Messi Could Play in Jamaica as Inter Miami Face Cavalier SC in Concacaf Champions Cup

Jamaican football fans may have the rare opportunity to see Lionel Messi in action on local soil, as his club, Inter Miami CF, is set to face Cavalier SC in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The second leg of the tie is scheduled for March 13 in Jamaica, following the first leg on March 6.

Inter Miami secured their place in the next round with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Sporting Kansas City, sealing the tie with a 3-1 win in the second leg on Tuesday night.

Messi played a key role, scoring a well-executed left-footed volley in the 19th minute after a chest-controlled assist from Luis Suárez.

The upcoming clash against Cavalier SC has sparked anticipation among local football supporters, as it could mark Messi’s first-ever match in Jamaica.

However, while the fixture is set, it remains to be seen whether the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will travel for the away leg. Given Miami’s packed schedule and Messi’s management of playing time, his participation is not guaranteed.

Cavalier SC, winners of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup, will look to capitalise on home advantage in what would be a historic encounter.

If Messi takes the field, it would be a landmark moment for Jamaican football, drawing attention to the local game and providing fans with a chance to see one of the sport’s greatest players live.
