Reggae Boyz to Host Trinidad and Tobago in February Friendlies
Jamaica will take on Trinidad and Tobago in two international friendlies next month as both teams gear up for the Concacaf Gold Cup preliminaries in March.
The first match is scheduled for February 6 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex at 7:30 pm, with the second game set for February 9 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston, kicking off at 8:00 pm.
Jamaica is preparing to face St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Gold Cup qualification round, while Trinidad and Tobago will battle Cuba for their spot in the group stages.
JFF President Michael Ricketts highlighted the importance of these fixtures for the national team’s development.
He explained that head coach Mr McClaren had requested opportunities to evaluate domestic-based players, prompting the federation to arrange these friendlies and accompanying camps.
“This is the third consecutive year we have started with games against Trinidad, and each year has been beneficial,” Ricketts noted.
He reflected on how the fixtures have served as valuable preparation for past campaigns, including the Gold Cup, Nations League, and World Cup Qualifiers.
The Reggae Boyz continue to fine-tune their strategies ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers resuming in June.
