Ravel Morrison’s Redemption: Precision FC Revival Fuels Hopes for Reggae Boyz Return

Ravel Morrison’s unpredictable career has taken a new turn, as he now plays in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) second division with Precision FC.

While his past may be defined by frequent club changes and potential unrealised, Jamaica’s national team Head Coach Steve McClaren hasn’t closed the door on a potential return for the 31-year-old to the national team.

Morrison, once lauded as one of England’s brightest young talents, recently scored his first goal for Precision FC in a 3-2 victory over Al Ittifaq, showing glimpses of his innate talent.

Despite not having played for any professional club for nearly two years before joining the UAE side, Morrison has hit the ground running, appearing four times since signing with Precision FC.

The midfielder’s journey has been marked by moments of brilliance as well as challenges.

His former Manchester United teammate, Paul Pogba, recently described Morrison as “the best player of my generation,” comparing his early potential to that of Neymar.

However, he acknowledged that Morrison’s career trajectory may have been affected by his decisions over the years.

Since switching his allegiance to Jamaica in 2020, Morrison has made 18 appearances for the Reggae Boyz, contributing two goals and two assists.

However, he hasn’t played for the national team since a Concacaf Nations League A fixture against Mexico in March 2023.

Now with a steady club situation and fitness on his side, Morrison could add experience to the Reggae Boyz midfield. McClaren noted the importance of players meeting the standards required for the national squad.

“If players are good enough, and are progressing, and we think they can play at a certain level — our level — then we will look at them,” he said.

Morrison’s talent has long been recognised by Manchester United icons Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney, and Rio Ferdinand, and his journey continues to captivate fans.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers underway, the possibility of Morrison donning the Jamaican colours again remains open.
