Midfielder Lewis Baker Reportedly Set to Switch International Allegiance to Jamaica

Lewis Baker, the 29-year-old Stoke City midfielder currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, is reportedly making the switch to represent Jamaica in pursuit of a World Cup opportunity.

A former England youth regular, Baker made his mark from the under-17s to the under-21s, even scoring an impressive eight goals in 17 appearances for the latter. His achievements include winning the Toulon Tournament golden boot in 2016.

Having been headhunted by Steve McClaren, Jamaica’s coach, Baker has reportedly agreed to the move, with the paperwork nearing completion.

McClaren is focused on securing Jamaica’s place in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in North and Central America.

  

Baker is among a list of England-raised talents McClaren is targeting.

Recent recruit Mason Holgate has already joined the squad, while players such as Mason Greenwood and Reiss Nelson, a,ong others are also on McClaren’s radar.
