Holgate’s Participation in Reggae Boyz Clash Against Nicaragua Remains Uncertain

West Bromwich Albion defender Mason Holgate’s participation in Jamaica’s crucial Concacaf Nations League Group ‘B’ fixture against Nicaragua remains uncertain, with a decision from FIFA expected in the final minutes before the match.

Holgate, who is receiving his maiden international call-up for Jamaica, is among nine defenders listed in the 23-man squad for Thursday evening’s encounter.

Reggae Boyz head coach Steve McClaren confirmed they are still awaiting FIFA’s clearance for the defender to represent Jamaica.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Boyz completed their final training session under wet conditions last evening, ahead of the match, which will be played on turf.

Despite the weather, McClaren is confident that the surface will not affect the team’s play, emphasising that their primary goal is to secure a victory.

The match, set to take place at the National Football Stadium in Managua, sees both teams tied on four points.

Jamaica currently tops the table on goal difference.

This will be the first time the two sides face each other in the Concacaf Nations League and their third meeting overall, with both teams having one win apiece in previous encounters.
