The Government has announced a substantial investment of US$2 million in the development of the Fantasy Beach Park in Priory, St. Ann.

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, revealed this ambitious endeavour during his contribution to the 2024/25 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday.

The project, slated to unfold over the next 18 months, will receive support from the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and is expected to mirror the scope of the successful Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay.

Addressing the House, Prime Minister Holness outlined broader plans for beach infrastructure development across the island.

“The Government will further upgrade another nine free community beaches this year,” he stated.

Looking beyond the immediate future, he outlined upcoming projects, including the development of the Boston Beach Park in Portland and a significant beach park in Negril.

Emphasising the importance of sustainable beach management and public access, Mr. Holness announced the completion of the Beach Access and Management Policy.

This policy, aimed at preserving Jamaica’s beaches for present and future generations, will be tabled at the next sitting of the House of Representatives.
