Mount Pleasant Academy’s Devonte Campbell Embarks on Training Stint with Charlton Athletic
On Tuesday, Mount Pleasant Academy (MPA) announced that their talented winger, Devonte Campbell, is set to undergo two weeks of intensive training with the English League One club, Charlton Athletic Football Club.
This move signifies the commencement of the newly inked “Mountain to Valley” partnership between the two clubs.
Campbell, a product of MPA who originally hails from St. James High, commenced his journey with Mount Pleasant Academy at the age of 14, being part of the inaugural batch of students enrolled in September 2018.
His progression through the ranks has been notable, culminating in his elevation to the Mount Pleasant Premier League team in 2020.
The winger made a significant impact during the season, scoring his first goal against Molynes United in a commanding 4-1 victory.
He further showcased his skills with a memorable strike in a 3-1 triumph against Harbour View, ending the season with a total of two goals.
Having received his first call-up to the National Senior Reggae Boys squad in 2021, Campbell has established himself as a promising talent.
Prior to his current stint with Charlton Athletic, he has represented the national under-20 team in five matches and made two appearances for the under-23 team.
