The highly anticipated Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) voting congress, originally scheduled for this Sunday at Ruseas High School, has been postponed.

This decision comes as Supreme Court Judge Andrea Thomas granted an injunction today, favouring Beach Soccer Jamaica, effectively delaying the election process until February 9.

The injunction was filed by Pat Garel, President of Beach Soccer Jamaica, who sought to compel the JFF to permit Beach Soccer’s participation in the upcoming election as the recognised entity representing Beach Football in Jamaica.

The court action also involved the Jamaica Football Coaches Association, represented by Dwayne Atkinson.

However, the association withdrew its application today, citing threats issued against one of its executives.

Valrie Neita Robertson, the association’s lawyer, clarified the withdrawal, leaving the focus on Beach Soccer Jamaica’s injunction.

As a consequence of these legal developments, the tenure of the incumbent JFF President, Mike Ricketts, will be extended until the election process is reconvened.
