Jamaica’s Tia Clayton Shatters Meet Record in Vinzenza, Italy!

On Tuesday,  Jamaica’s Tia Clayton shattered the meet record for the women’s 100m event during the 5th Meeting Brazzale held at Campo Scuola in Vinzenza, Italy.

Clocking in at 11.23 seconds with a slight tailwind of -0.1m/s, Clayton matched her season’s best time and emerged as the star of the competition, outshining a formidable field that even included her own sister, Tina Clayton.

Clayton’s remarkable performance not only secured her victory but also eclipsed the previous meet record of 11.38 seconds, established by Alessia Pavese just last year.

The Jamaican athletes dominated the leaderboard, occupying an impressive sweep of the top four positions in the final race.

  

Krystal Sloley clinched the second spot with a personal best time of 11.27 seconds, marking the fourth instance this season where she achieved a new lifetime best.

Meanwhile, her sister – Tina Clayton, a two-time World Athletics Under-20 champion, showcased her prowess by securing the third place with a timing of 11.32 seconds.

Serena Cole, another Jamaican contender, rounded off the Jamaican triumph by finishing fourth with a time of 11.47 seconds.

The 5th Meeting Brazzale served witness to Tia Clayton’s remarkable feat, etching her name into the meet’s history and reaffirming Jamaica’s stronghold in the world of women’s sprinting.
