Southern Coastal Highway Expands Further: New Section from Marabella to 10 Miles Unveiled!

In a significant stride towards improving transportation infrastructure, the Southern Coastal Highway has recently unveiled another section, extending from Marabella to 10 Miles in St. Thomas, Jamaica.

This latest addition, spanning three kilometers, marks a substantial achievement, as it means that ten kilometers out of the seventeen-kilometer stretch between Bull Bay and Yallahs are now accessible to vehicular traffic.

The National Works Agency (NWA) has been  working to enhance this vital highway, and according to Stephen Shaw, the Communication Manager at NWA, they are steadfast in their commitment to meet the project’s target. The NWA aspires to have at least two out of the four lanes fully operational for vehicular traffic by the upcoming August deadline.

This development holds immense promise for locals and commuters, significantly reducing travel time between Marabella and 10 Miles in St. Thomas.

The improved connectivity will undoubtedly foster economic growth and bolster social interactions along the Southern Coastal Highway.

However, with the recent opening of the section leading to the bridge at ten miles, Mr. Shaw issued a safety advisory to operators of trucks and trailers. The roadway to the bridge features an eight percent slope, which demands extra caution and attentiveness during transportation.

With every new section that opens to vehicular traffic, the Southern Coastal Highway edges closer to its ultimate goal of providing a seamless and efficient transportation route for the benefit of the community and the nation at large.
