Manchester City Move Up To Second Place In WSL After Jamaica’s ‘Bunny’ Shaw Scores Hat-Trick In 3-1 Win Over Tottenham
Manchester City produced an impressive comeback to secure a 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their Women’s Super League encounter at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Sunday, thanks to Khadija Shaw’s hat-trick.
The Spurs took the lead in the 31st minute through Celin Bizet Ildhusøy.
But, in stoppage time of the first half, Shaw equalised for City, who had extended her contract with Nike last week.
Shaw gave her team the lead two minutes after the restart with a penalty, before completing her hat-trick in the 83rd minute with her 24th goal of the season.
With 32 points from 14 games, City temporarily climbed into second place in the league table. However, Chelsea, who have played two games less, could overtake them with 31 points from 12 games.
Manchester City had a dominant performance with the majority of possession and took 27 shots on Spurs’ goal, with nine on target.
Meanwhile, Drew Spence and her Tottenham teammates managed only six shots, with two on target.
Since losing their first two matches of the season, Manchester City have remained undefeated in the Women’s Super League, winning 10 and drawing two of their last 12 games.
