Jamaica Extend Unbeaten Run Against Panama After Goalless Draw

Jamaica came close to finding a late breakthrough on Tuesday, but goalkeeper Yenith Bailey denied Konya Plummer from close range in stoppage time as the Reggae Girlz settled for a goalless draw against Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City.
The result ensured Jamaica maintained their recent dominance in the fixture, stretching their unbeaten run against Panama to four matches.
One of the best opportunities of the contest arrived before half-time when Jamaica were awarded a penalty in the 26th minute. Natasha Thomas earned the spot kick after being brought down while carrying the ball across the edge of the penalty area. However, Deneisha Blackwood was unable to convert, with her effort striking the crossbar.
Thomas was again involved in a dangerous attacking move later in the half. The forward nearly connected with a header in the 38th minute, but Bailey reacted quickly to get a hand to the ball and prevent Jamaica from taking the lead.
Tuesday’s encounter followed Jamaica’s 1-0 victory over Panama in the opening match of the two-game international series, which was played at the same venue on Friday.
Head coach Hubert Busby made five changes to the starting line-up for the second meeting, with Thomas among those brought into the team.
Despite creating several of the clearer chances over the 90 minutes, Jamaica were unable to find the decisive goal and had to settle for a share of the spoils in the second friendly of the series.
