Reggae Girlz to Face Peru Without Bunny Shaw

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw will not be part of Jamaica’s squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Peru on February 23 and 26 in Lima.

The 24-player squad was announced on Monday, with head coach Hubert Busby Jr. explaining that Shaw’s omission is due to load management and coordination with her club, Manchester City.

Shaw recently returned to City’s starting XI after a period on the sidelines with a leg injury and subsequent racist abuse.

She marked her return by scoring twice in a 4-0 win over Liverpool in the Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Given her limited minutes since returning, City is carefully managing her reintegration, and Jamaica’s medical team has aligned with that approach.

Busby indicated that data shared between City and Jamaica influenced the decision, and the expectation is that Shaw will be available for the next international window once she is back to full match fitness.

Despite her absence, the squad features a blend of experience and emerging talent, with new call-ups Nyema Ingleton and Jazmin Ferguson joining the team.

Squad for Peru Friendlies:

Goalkeepers: Rebecca Spencer, Aliyah Morgan, Liya Brooks.

Midfielders: Atlanta Primus, Njeri Butts, Amelia Van Zanten, Drew Spence, Jade Bailey, Olufolasade Adamolekun.
