Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent Sets World-Leading 60m Hurdles Time at Lievin World Athletics Tour
Ackera Nugent delivered a world-class performance at the prestigious Lievin World Athletics Tour Gold Meeting in France on Thursday, setting the fastest women’s indoor 60m hurdles time of the year.
The Jamaican sprint hurdler clocked a blistering 7.75 seconds, narrowly surpassing the previous world lead of 7.76 seconds set by Olympic champion Masai Russell of the USA at the Millrose Games in New York the previous week.
While Nugent celebrated her remarkable victory, it was a challenging outing for fellow Jamaican Crystal Morrison.
Morrison struggled in her heat, finishing sixth with a time of 8.16 seconds, which was not enough to secure a spot in the final.
In the men’s shot put, Jamaica’s national champion and Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell demonstrated his strength and consistency.
Campbell secured a third-place finish with a solid throw of 21.34 metres.
The event was won by Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri, who dominated the competition with a throw of 21.95 metres.
