Mason Greenwood Named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for December
Marseille’s in-form striker Mason Greenwood has been honoured as Ligue 1’s Player of the Month for December, following his standout performances for Les Phocéens.
The 23-year-old Manchester United Academy graduate clinched the prestigious award after netting twice last month, playing a pivotal role in Marseille’s victories over Monaco (2-1) and Saint-Étienne (2-0).
Greenwood edged out tough competition from Lyon’s creative midfielder Rayan Cherki and Lille’s prolific striker Jonathan David to claim the accolade.
He continued his remarkable run of form in Marseille’s 2-1 triumph over Rennes, scoring an equaliser and setting up Adrien Rabiot’s decisive goal.
Currently, Greenwood sits atop the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts alongside David, while his 14 goal contributions make him the league’s most impactful player this season.
The England international has also begun the process of switching allegiance to represent Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, a move that has generated excitement among Jamaican football fans.
