Decordova-Reid Doubtful for Jamaica’s Nations League Clash Against USA

Jamaica’s national team may be without Leicester City’s Bobby Decordova-Reid for their upcoming Concacaf Nations League quarter-final matches against the United States.

Decordova-Reid’s club coach, Steve Cooper, cast doubt over the player’s fitness ahead of Leicester’s Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Jamaican forward missed Leicester’s recent league game against Ipswich Town after sustaining an injury in their 5-2 League Cup loss to Manchester United on October 30.

Cooper revealed on Friday that Decordova-Reid had suffered “a nasty wound” on his Achilles during the match, which he continued to play through until the injury was examined back in the dressing room.

“Bobby missed Ipswich and still hasn’t returned to the grass,” Cooper confirmed.

“He picked up quite a nasty wound in the League Cup game at United and managed to carry on with it, but as soon as he got back to the dressing room and took his boot off, he had a nasty wound on his Achilles that is in an awkward position.”

According to a release on the Leicester City website, Decordova-Reid has not yet resumed training at the club’s Seagrave facility, leaving his availability for Sunday’s match in question.

This makes his inclusion in Jamaica’s squad for the November 14 home match against the USA in Kingston, as well as the November 18 return leg in Missouri, increasingly unlikely.
