Persistent Rainfall Expected to Impact Northern Parishes Through Mid-Week
Northern parishes in Jamaica are expected to experience continued rainfall until mid-week, as a persistent stationary front generates extensive cloud cover, showers, and thunderstorms across the north-central Caribbean.
According to a release from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica on Monday, the weather system has stalled just north of the island, bringing rainfall over the weekend and continuing to affect the northern region.
The forecast anticipates cloudy conditions with intermittent periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, across sections of northern parishes until mid-week. Strong gusty winds are also expected, influenced by a low-level jet stream positioned across the north-central Caribbean.
Marine interests, especially fishers operating inshore and offshore along the north coast, are urged to proceed with caution as sea conditions may deteriorate due to thundershowers and strong gusty winds in affected areas.
