Jamaica and Honduras Play to Stalemate, Both Advance to Nations League Quarterfinals
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz and Honduras battled to a 0-0 draw at the National Stadium in Kingston on Monday night, securing the top two spots in Group B of the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League (CNL) League A and earning qualification for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Jamaica finished atop the group with eight points from four matches, narrowly edging Honduras by a single point.
Both teams have now advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
The match saw limited opportunities for both sides, with Honduras coming closest in the 31st minute when Antony Lozano’s clear chance was denied by Jamaica’s standout goalkeeper, Andre Blake.
Blake, who registered six saves, secured his second consecutive clean sheet and third overall in this campaign. Honduras goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar also earned his second clean sheet of the tournament.
The Reggae Boyz nearly broke the deadlock in the 69th minute when Kaheim Dixon’s shot from outside the box went just wide of the target.
In other Group B action, Trinidad and Tobago defeated Cuba, while Nicaragua came from behind to beat French Guiana.
Nicaragua finished third on goal difference with seven points, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with five, Cuba with three, and French Guiana with one.
Both Jamaica and Honduras now turn their attention to the quarterfinals, looking to build on their solid group stage performances.
