Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to Receive Keys to the City of Kingston
The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) is set to confer one of its highest honours on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, presenting the iconic sprinter with the keys to the city of Kingston.
The honour recognises Fraser-Pryce’s outstanding contributions to athletics throughout her illustrious career, which has spanned over 22 years.
A native of the Waterhouse community, Fraser-Pryce has made a significant impact on the world of sport, winning numerous medals in the 60, 100, 200, and 4×100 metre events.
She has become a symbol of hope, transcending the boundaries of sport to serve as an ambassador for Jamaica’s culture.
The resolution to bestow this prestigious honour was passed during a KSAMC council meeting held in downtown Kingston.
Councillor for the Hagley Park Division, Waynette Strachan, acknowledged the sprinter’s contributions to Jamaica, emphasising her pride in the achievements of the Olympic and World Champion.
Fraser-Pryce’s long and decorated career has cemented her status as one of Jamaica’s greatest athletes, making her a fitting recipient of this esteemed recognition.
