Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Southern and North-Western Parishes

A flash flood watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone regions of southern and north-western parishes, including St. Thomas, Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover, St. James, and Trelawny.
Authorities advise residents to remain alert and ready to act swiftly should flooding occur or if a flash flood warning is declared.

According to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, the flash flood watch will remain in place until 5 p.m. on Monday.

An area of disturbed weather linked to a broad trough in the western Caribbean is responsible for moderate to strong thunderstorm activity, leading to unstable conditions over the island in the coming days.

Showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be heavy, are forecast to impact most parishes, with particular emphasis on southern and north-western areas, through midweek.

Southern parishes and offshore marine zones are expected to experience strong, gusty winds.

Caution is advised for fishers and other marine interests as sea conditions are set to worsen due to the storm system.

The Met Service will continue monitoring the situation and providing updates as necessary.
