Jamaican Sprinters Advance into Olympic 100m Semi-Finals

Kishane Thompson

Jamaican sprinters Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville looked comfortable on the track as they sailed into the semi-finals of the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympics on Saturday.

Thompson, the world’s fastest man this year with an impressive 9.77 seconds, made light work of his heat.

The Jamaican speedster crossed the finish line with a time of 10.00 seconds.

Teammate Oblique Seville also won his heat with a swift 9.99 seconds.

Their preliminary success follows a highly competitive series of heats featuring top international competitors.

Among them were U.S. sprint star Noah Lyles and Italy’s defending Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, who also advanced to the semi-finals.

Lyles, despite a slow start, finished second in his heat with a time of 10.04 seconds. Jacobs, who claimed Olympic gold in Tokyo, secured his place with a time of 10.05 seconds, finishing just behind Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi.

Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, the second-fastest man of the year, won his heat in 10.08 seconds, further adding to the excitement for the upcoming semi-finals.
