Jamaica’s Khadija Shaw Wins Writers’ Footballer of the Year Award

English footballer Phil Foden and Reggae Girl Khadija Shaw have clinched the Football Writers’ Association footballers of the year title in the UK.

Foden, aged 23, has been stellar for Manchester City, netting 24 goals and supplying 10 assists across 50 appearances this season.

He secured 42% of the vote, surpassing Declan Rice and Rodri for the men’s award.

Meanwhile, Shaw, aged 27, leads the Women’s Super League scoring charts with 21 goals in 18 matches, earning her the women’s accolade.

  

Shaw, now sidelined due to a foot injury, voiced gratitude for the recognition.

Both players have contributed significantly to City’s pursuits, with the men’s team trailing Arsenal by a point in the Premier League, and the women’s team leading the WSL by six points.
