Reggae Boyz to Kick Off Second Round Of World Cup Qualifying in June

On June 6, Jamaica will kick off the second round of 2026 World Cup Qualifying by hosting the Dominican Republic at Kingston’s National Stadium.

Following this opener, the team will head to Dominica for their second game June 9th.

Group E, in which Jamaica finds itself, also includes Guatemala and the British Virgin Islands.

The latter secured their position in the group after a gripping playoff victory against the US Virgin Islands.

President Ricketts, exuding confidence and determination, emphasised the JFF’s forward-thinking approach, asserting, “The size of your rearview mirror is so very small compared to the big mirror in front of you.”

He underscored the imperative of focusing on the future and reiterated the team’s commitment to surmounting challenges with unwavering dedication.

Acknowledging the absence of regional powerhouses such as the USA, Mexico, and Canada in their qualifying path, Ricketts highlighted the need for relentless effort despite perceived advantages. “

A lot of people have said that it is going to be easy, but we still have to work as hard as we can,” he declared.

With Mexico, the United States, and Canada already assured of automatic qualification as hosts, the remaining Concacaf member associations are poised for a tough battle.

Hosts Mexico, the United States, and Canada have secured automatic qualification, leaving the remaining 32 FIFA-affiliated Concacaf member associations to vie for the remaining spots. In the second round of qualifiers, the two winners from the first round will join the other 28 participating member associations.
