Jamaica’s Women’s Cricket Team Clinches Regional Super50 Title

Jamaica’s Women’s Cricket Team have emerged victorious as the 2024 Regional Women’s Super50 champions.

The historic triumph was sealed after a hard-fought battle against the Windward Islands, resulting in a narrow 3-wicket victory for the Jamaican side.

The clash, which unfolded at the St. Paul’s Sports Complex in St. Kitts, saw Jamaica chasing down a formidable target of 176 runs set by the Windward Islands.

Led by opener Rashada Williams’ stellar performance, Jamaica reached the target, scoring 176 for 7 in 36.1 overs.

  

Williams scored 72 runs, embellished with 7 fours and a six.

Natasha Mclean also contributed a brisk 50 runs off just as many balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Chedean Nation provided valuable support with 29 runs.

Earlier in the match, the Windward Islands, having won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a competitive total of 175 for 9 in their allotted 45 overs.

Pearl Etienne spearheaded their innings with a top-score of 58 runs, supported by notable contributions from Jannelia Glasgow (38) and Afy Fletcher (31).

Jamaica’s bowlers put up a commendable effort, with Chinelle Henry being the standout performer, claiming figures of 6 for 31.

Niesha-Ann Waisome, Vanessa Watts, and captain Stafanie Taylor also chipped in with crucial wickets.

  

With this victory, the unbeaten Jamaican side secured their fourth successive win in the tournament, establishing an unassailable lead ahead of the final round clash against Guyana.

The final round, scheduled for Wednesday, will witness Jamaica taking on Guyana at St. Paul’s, while the Leeward Islands will face Trinidad & Tobago at Warner Park, and Barbados will lock horns with the Windward Islands at Conaree.
