Shamar Nicholson’s Goal and Assist Propel Clermont Foot to a 2-1 Victory Over Nantes
On Sunday, Shamar Nicholson delivered a standout performance, playing a crucial role in Clermont Foot’s 2-1 triumph over Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
The Jamaican international wasted no time, seizing an opportunity in the 29th minute when he capitalised on a mistake by Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont, slotting home confidently from just inside the box for his second consecutive goal in as many games.
Despite Nicholson’s early heroics, Nantes fought back in the second half, with Florent Mollet finding the back of the net to level the score.
The match remained finely poised until the 89th minute when Nicholson once again left his mark on the game, this time as the provider.
He delivered a crucial assist for Jim Allevinah, who scored the match-winning goal and sealed a 2-1 victory for Clermont Foot.
Clermont Foot are currently in 17th position in the 18-team Ligue 1 table, amassing 14 points from 18 games.
Meanwhile, Nantes occupies the 13th spot with 18 points from an equal number of matches.
