On Saturday, Al-Ettifaq emerged victorious with a late strike from Demarai Gray, securing a 3-2 win over Al-Wehda.

The Jamaican international’s dramatic goal in the eighth minute of added time left fans on the edge of their seats and added to the excitement of this fiercely contested match.

The game opened with Dutch former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, making an early impact by giving Al-Ettifaq the lead in the 18th minute. Wijnaldum’s strike set the tone for a game filled with attacking prowess.

However, the lead didn’t last long as Craig Goodwin leveled the score for Al-Wehda in the 37th minute, ensuring that both teams entered halftime deadlocked at 1-1.

The second half continued to provide intense action, with Goodwin netting his second goal of the match just six minutes after the restart, granting Al-Wehda a 2-1 lead. Wijnaldum once again rose to the occasion for Al-Ettifaq, equalizing the score with just nine minutes left on the clock, setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

As the match appeared destined for a draw, Demarai Gray proved to be the hero for Al-Ettifaq.

In the dying moments of the game, Gray cut inside on his right foot and unleashing a ferocious strike from just outside the box. The ball found the bottom left corner of the goal, leaving Al-Wehda goalkeeper with no chance, and sealing a remarkable 3-2 victory for Al-Ettifaq.

With this crucial win, Al-Ettifaq now stands in seventh place in the Saudi Pro League standings, accumulating a total of 20 points from their first 11 games.
