Reggae Girl Atlanta Primus Joins Southampton after Historic World Cup Run!

Reggae Girl Atlanta Primus, the sensational talent who played a pivotal role in Jamaica’s historic World Cup journey, is set to make a significant move to Barclays Women’s Championship Club Southampton.

This remarkable transfer comes as Primus bids farewell to London City Lionesses, her former club.

Primus, whose contributions helped Jamaica reach the knockout stage of a Women’s World Cup for the first time ever, initially rose to prominence with Chelsea FC before embarking on an enriching journey at California State University, Fullerton in 2016.

Her time in the United States saw her amass an impressive record of 72 appearances and 25 goals, solidifying her status as an all-time program assist leader, a distinguished MVP, and a dedicated team captain across four prolific seasons.

  

Upon her return to the UK, Primus took on a new challenge by joining the ranks of London City Lionesses in September 2020.

Her time with the club proved fruitful, boasting 58 appearances and a remarkable 15 goals.

Before pledging her allegiance to the vibrant Jamaican national team, she showcased her prowess as a youth player for England, leaving an indelible mark at the under-15, under-17, and under-19 levels.

Notably, Primus marked her Jamaican debut with an exceptional display in a friendly match against Costa Rica, swiftly capturing the attention of selectors.

Her consistent brilliance both in domestic league fixtures and while donning the iconic reggae girls’ shirt earned her a well-deserved spot in the recent World Cup squad, highlighting her exceptional journey from youth prospect to international football sensation.
