Reggae Boy Kevon Lambert Makes Exciting Leap to Major League Soccer with Real Salt Lake!
Kevon Lambert, renowned as Phoenix Rising FC’s longest-standing player, is set to embark on a new chapter as he joins Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The official announcement of Lambert’s transfer from Rising FC to Real Salt Lake is anticipated to take place imminently, following the approval of Lambert’s contract by MLS.
A native of Jamaica and a proficient 26-year-old midfielder, Lambert originally joined Rising FC in 2017.
His remarkable journey saw him become the club’s all-time leader in appearances across various competitions.
Recognised as one of the top defensive midfielders in the USL, his skills were pivotal in helping Rising FC secure triumphs, including the 2018 and 2020 Western Conference championships, as well as the 2019 regular season league title.
Lambert’s profound influence extended beyond the 15 matches he played this season, where he not only showcased his goal-scoring ability but significantly contributed to ball distribution and defensive tactics.
“I’m super excited about the opportunity. I’ve always dreamt of moving on to the next level, to like a higher league,” Lambert told the Republic. “I didn’t see it coming at this point but to me, it means a lot.”
Lambert’s consistent performance in the USL, coupled with his impressive showing in the recent Concacaf Gold Cup for Jamaica, caught the attention of Real Salt Lake.
Lambert’s journey to Rising FC began similarly, with the club scouting and signing him after his standout performance in the 2017 Gold Cup.
Bobby Dulle, President of Rising FC, expressed mixed emotions, saying, Kevon’s departure is “a bittersweet moment.”
Rising FC reached an agreement with Real Salt Lake for Lambert’s transfer, and he joins the MLS team as they strive for a postseason berth.
Despite a minor injury and recent match absences, Lambert’s move was successfully negotiated.
