Sha’Carri Richardson Emerges Victorious Over Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson in Doha
Sha’Carri Richardson of the United States ran a meet record of 10.76 seconds (0.9m/s) to win the season-opening Wanda Diamond League meeting in Doha on Friday, beating Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson.
Richardson surged ahead of Jackson in the final 20 meters to take the world lead, with Jackson finishing second in 10.85 seconds.
Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain came in third place with a season’s best time of 10.98 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 100m hurdles, Olympic Games bronze medallist Megan Tapper finished fourth with a season’s best time of 12.76 seconds (1.1m/s).
Candice McLeod and Stephenie Ann McPherson both finished down the track in the women’s 400m, with McLeod coming in fifth with a time of 52.43 seconds and McPherson finishing sixth with 52.93 seconds.
Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic won the race with a time of 50.51 seconds, with American Shamier Little finishing second with a time of 50.84 seconds.
