The Financial Times recently published an article praising Jamaica’s impressive economic turnaround over the past decade.

The Financial Times is a British daily business newspaper  that is printed  and published digitally that focuses on business and economic current affairs.

The Times’ report heavily relies on the positive assessment provided in the International Monetary Fund’s latest Article 4 consultation on Jamaica, which was published this week.

Despite facing economic challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Jamaica has been able to recover and is expected to continue growing in the coming years, according to the International Monetary Fund’s latest report on the country.

The IMF commended the Jamaican government’s efforts to build institutions and maintain macroeconomic stability, which helped the country navigate through the pandemic and other global shocks.

The Financial Times highlighted Jamaica’s remarkable reduction in its debt-to-GDP ratio from 147% in 2013 to 86% in 2021, with further reduction expected by 2025.

Overall, the Financial Times described Jamaica’s economic transformation as a near-miracle.
