Jamaica Kick Off CONCACAF U17 Championship With 4-2 Triumph Against Cuba
Jamaica launched their journey in the CONCACAF U17 tournament with a commanding 4-2 win over Cuba in the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium located in Guatemala City on Sunday.
The Jamaican side utilised a 4-4-2 formation and broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, with Jahmani Bell finding the back of the net with a well-placed volley from inside the box.
At halftime, the score was 1-0 in favour of Jamaica. In the 56th minute, Orane Watson doubled Jamaica’s lead and Ashton Gordon further extended their lead to 3-0 in the 70th minute.
Watson added another goal to the tally in the 75th minute to give Jamaica a commanding 4-0 lead.
Although Cuba never gave up, they were only able to secure two consolation goals, one in the 78th minute by Didier Reinoso and another in the 89th minute.
Despite this, Jamaica temporarily topped Group G, which also includes Costa Rica and Guadeloupe.
The latter two teams are set to face off later on Sunday.
