Jamaica international Damion Lowe could soon be rubbing shoulders with seven time Ballon d’or winner Lionel Messi.

A recent report by David Ornstein of the athletic.com states that Lowe’s MLS team Inter Miami FC are “increasingly confident” of their chances to sign Messi after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires this upcoming summer.

Messi has previously been linked with a return to Barcelona while PSG reportedly are seeking to extend his stay in the French capital.

However, according to Ornstein, Miami’s ownership group has held “numerous meetings” with Messi’s father, and the legendary Argentina captain might be able to sign a pre-contract this winter as his current PSG deal expires in June 2023.

Should Inter Miami land Messi, it would be the highest-profile move in MLS history, surpassing those of David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Thierry Henry, Gareth Bale and Wayne Rooney.
